A Motown Wedgie!

This remarkable piece of video and audio occurred during the Michigan State/Bucknell game today. Announcers Ian Eagle and Jim Spanarkel are two of the best in the game, and the energy evident here is why. Ian cannot suppress his excitement when the attempted shot by Bucknell guard Stephen Brown gets "wedged" in between the backboard and the rim. Since the game was being played in Detroit, Michigan, Eagle was very quick to inject one of Detroit's well-known nicknames into the moment. Thus, we have been forever blessed with "A Motown Wedgie!" As a bonus, another one of Brown's shots later in the game got wedged a second time. Eagle's reaction that time? "A Wedgie-Fest!" Thank the Lord for Ian Eagle.

Fun With Limericks

"There once was a man from Nantucket Who kept all his cash in a bucket.     But his daughter, named Nan,     Ran away with a man And as for the bucket, Nantucket." -Dayton Voorhees "There once was a Tech grade named Hale, Whose humorous typing would fail. As his friends got older, They used a spam folder To filter March Madness email." -Stuart Downs "I was stressed from some really tight parking, And was just to myself remarking, How I wished I could hear, Some words filled with cheer, Thanks friend it's sorted, and now I'm embarking." -Val Garza I am no limerick aficionado, nor do I have any skills in writing them, but their presence today was a huge blessing.  The first one is the original version of the famous Nantucket limerick series. It has since been altered for a different kind of humor, but the brilliance of the original is not to be overlooked. It randomly came up in conversation for me on Tu

The Tree of Zacchaeus

For a little context, here is the pertinent part of the story from Chapter 19 in the book of Luke: "Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly." I borrowed this image from the Instagram feed of a family member. Shortly after I had posted the image on my own feed, a friend made the following observation: "I like this, like building on what's there or providing something for others to build upon." Exactly. From the point of view of Zacchaeus, he found himself in need, and a solution was provided for him. He could
